| | | COLLEGE FB PACKAGE: BC's Ryan tries to bounce back from loss | | Posted Thursday, November 09, 2006 6:55:57 PM by Blog57 Team | | Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan was feeling a little down after throwing two interceptions in the end zone in a loss to Wake Forest that might have cost the Eagles a chance at the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game. Then he turned on the television Sunday night to watch the New England Patriots. "Tom Brady the other night throws four interceptions and he's the best at what he does," Ryan said Wednesday. "That kind of thing is going to happen when you play football." Ryan stressed that he wasn't comparing himself to Brady, a two-time Super Bowl MVP. "I don't want Tom to be reading this and say, 'What the hell is this guy saying,'" Ryan said with a laugh. Brady was picked off four times in Sunday night's 27-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Ryan threw two interceptions in a 21-14 loss to Wake, but he also set career highs by completing 40-of-57 passes for 402 yards.... | |

| | | Volleyball swept by Boston College | | Posted Thursday, November 09, 2006 12:58:19 PM by Blog57 Team | | Hopes of a fourth-straight ACC title have long been squashed, but the Terrapin volleyball team played - and lost - a match with Boston College yesterday as if it still counted. The Terps (11-14, 4-12 ACC) fell to the Eagles (9-16, 7-9 ACC), 3-0 (30-28, 30-24, 30-26), despite junior outside hitter Jade Brown's 15 kills and junior outside hitter Beth Gillming's 10 digs. "We know there aren't enough games left to fix the season," Brown said. "But we still try to play every game just with the goal of coming together as a team." Brown and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Mary Beth Brown led the team with 11 combined kills in the first game, but key blocks by Eagles junior Abigail Hasebroock left the Terps just shy of a win. A persistent attack by Boston College brought the Terps' hitting percentage down from .200 to .044 in the second game, and several errors by the Terps in the third game left the Terps frustrated and winless.... | |
